Your Believing

We’re becoming what we already are

-Fear of inadequacy

*God will always give us what we need to be able to do what He tells us

2 Peter 1:3 (AMP) For His divine power has bestowed upon us all things that [are requisite and suited] to life and godliness, through the [full, personal] knowledge of Him Who called us by and to His own glory and excellence (virtue).

All things that are required for life and holiness

John 16:15 (AMP) Everything that the Father has is Mine. That is what I meant when I said that He [the Spirit] will take the things that are Mine and will reveal (declare, disclose, transmit) it to you.

Everything the Father has is mine! -Jesus

*We need to learn to live out of our hearts instead of our heads.

*Also transmit – in order for something to be transmitted you must have a receiver / be ready to receive {the Holy Spirit reveals it to us}

=We receive through believing

Receive = Believe

>You can decide that you will be happy no matter if you get what you want or not.

Stop ruining your life over someone else’s bad choice.

{TRUST always requires unanswered questions}

Proverbs 24:16 for though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again, but the wicked are brought down by calamity.

Fall 7X’s but get back up

1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

No fear in love

>You can believe what you want to believe

>In God’s Kingdom, faith always leads

-The thing around me might not change but I can change.

-If there is still fear then I need a deeper revelation of God’s love.

*As long as I keep believing, God keeps working!

-All things are possible to the one who believes!

John 6:29 (AMP) Jesus replied, This is the work (service) that God asks of you: that you believe in the One Whom He has sent [that you cleave to, trust, rely on, and have faith in His Messenger].

-your job is to BELIEVE

-When you believe God you enter His rest.

-Pray to be led by the Holy Spirit then believe you are being led by the Spirit.

Conference Notes from Session 4

At the Saturday morning session, Lisa Bevere spoke.

**A gathering of the mighty

  1. You are a target
  2. You might be a HERO

    *Christian means anointed one – marked by God and noted by the enemy

    God’s word is a sword – a weapon for us to use

Luke 22:36 He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.

Jesus tells them to sell their cloak and buy a sword

-Don’t underestimate the power of knowing what the enemy sees when he looks at you

James 1:22-25 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it – he will be blessed in what he does.

The mirror we look to is the WORD!

{Look at = superficial i.e. we look at the magazines by the checkout stand} {Look into = in depth i.e. we look into the Word of God}

Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

What does it mean to carry your cross???

>All that the cross provided for you is what we are supposed to carry out into the world<

-The cross is a weapon (it isn’t a coincidence that it even looks like a sword)

James 1:2-8 (Message) Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way. If you don’t know what you’re doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You’ll get his help, and won’t be condescended to when you ask for it. Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought. People who “worry their prayers” are like wind-whipped waves. Don’t think you’re going to get anything from the Master that way, adrift at sea, keeping all your options open.

Under pressure you faith life is forced out into the open

Pressure – locates what you have trusted in

-strength training season so you can hold your weapon

-We need to pray scary prayers instead of scared prayers.

-Ask boldly.

**Your children will either inherit God’s promises or your fears**

(Lisa would line up her four boys at night and speak this over them: “You are for signs and wonders and miracles not death and destruction”)

-The sword of the Spirit is to set people free.

James 4:7-8 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will fell from you. Come near to God and He will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Micah 4:11-13 But now many nations are gathered against you. They say, “Let her be defiled, let our eyes gloat over Zion!” But they do not know the thoughts of the Lord; they do not understand his plan, he who gathers them like sheaves to the threshing floor. “Rise and thresh, O Daughter of Zion, for I will give you horns of iron; I will give you hoofs of bronze and you will break to pieces many nations.” You will devote their ill-gotten gains to the Lord, their wealth to the Lord of all the earth.

Remaking into a people INVINCIBLE

Zecheriah 9:12-13 Return to your fortress, O prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you. I will bend Judah as I bend my bow and fill it with Ephraim. I will rouse your sons, O Zion, against your sons, O Greece, and make you like a warrior’s sword.

People are my swords – you are a weapon walking this earth.

Conference Notes for Session 3

On Friday night, September 26, 2014, Joyce Meyer spoke again.

Her title for this message is: We Can Do It!

Matthew 11:12 (AMP) And from the days of John the Baptist until the present time, the kingdom of heaven has endured violent assault, and violent men seize it by force [ as a precious prize – a share in the heavenly kingdom is sought with most ardent zeal and intense exertion].

Ardent zeal and intense exertion – nothing passive

“The kingdom of God suffers violenceViolence – attack


“the violent take it by force” Violent – energetic, confident, bold, courageous

>Are you prepared to stand your ground and live out what you believe if times get tougher???

-The believers in the early days had the hope of eternal life

Romans 5:17 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.

Reign as kings in life

Luke 10:19 (AMP) Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you.

We have power and authority

“physical and mental strength and ability over the power of the enemy”

-The more experience you have with God the more you trust Him and the less the fear matters.

>>My “we” is Father, Son, Holy Ghost, and me!

-Get over the fear of man.

-The things we go through make us stronger.

The whole army of Isreal backed down from Goliath because of fear.

-This earth will never 100% satisfy us.

-Pray BOLDER prayers!

-God wants to take care of everybody.

Philippians 4:13 (AMP) I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].

-Grace – self-sufficient in God’s sufficiency

The fear of being hurt and being taken advantage of leads to the sin of self-protection.

-Get rid of that excuse

-If I don’t take care of me and my reputation then God will.

1 Peter 2:23 (AMP) When He was reviled and insulted, He did not revile or offer insult in return; [when] He was abused and suffered, He made no threats [of vengeance]; but He trusted [Himself and everything] to Him Who judges fairly.

He trusted himself and everything to Him who judges fairly.

>If God can’t give it to you, you don’t have any business with it.

>God wants to be our walls of protection

Be vulnerable – you might get hurt but you will recover.

Conference Notes for Session 2

Ed Young spoke on Friday morning (9/26/14) at the conference. These are the notes I took during the session:

As Joyce Meyer introduced Ed Young, she mentioned that she had seen him carrying around a red umbrella and that it had her curious. Ed Young walked onto the stage carrying a red umbrella.

He started by leading us in a cheer: “You got it, now use it!”

-Have you ever paddled away from authority??

-In order to understand authority we must be under God’s authority.

-People are looking for God in their lives: God works through authority figures!

>When we reject God’s authority we become castaways like the devil or Adam and Eve.

Saul at Mickmash

1 Samuel 15:11-12 “I am grieved that I have made Saul king, because he has turned away from me and has not carried out my instructions.” Samuel was troubled, and he cried out to the Lord all that night. Early in the morning Samuel got up and went to meet Saul, but he was told, “Saul has gone to Carmel. There he has set up a monument in his own honor and has turned and gone on down to Gilgal.”

Saul got ahead of God, he didn’t wait for the appointed time.

{So to answer the question above, Have you ever paddled away from authority?}

I saw…, I thought…, I felt… = Paddling away from authority

{Any time that you are governed by what you see and think and feel you should imagine yourself in a boat with a paddle in your hands pushing away from God. Ed Young demonstrated using his red umbrella for a paddle}

The Red Umbrella = the authority of God

If you keep the umbrella at arm’s length (because you don’t like authority) you get drenched in dysfunction!

If you get under the umbrella (the authority of God) you are protected.

>>>We must get under those things God has put over us so we can get over those things God has put under us!

If we are under authority there is:




Diamonds are ugly and rough but when they are cut and chipped they are beautiful.

-God is using people in authority to cut and chip away things to make us better.

-You cannot understand your uniqueness until you are under the authority of God.

~Authority issues in marriage

* * * Marriage is Brute-iful * * *

God made men and women different so that He could make them one.

Men are to sacrifice. That is to take the initiative

Women are to submit. That is to arrange under(think of the umbrella)

1 Corinthians 11:3 Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.

Men should be unselfish and committed

Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ does the church —

Men should be understanding

1 Peter 3:7 Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.

Men give honor to the wife

3 Problems in marriage

>>Power –leadership and submission

>>Money –self explanatory

>>Sex –know your no’s

{Kids aren’t a problem in marriage but Ed brought them up when he mentioned sex}

Keeping Intimacy at a Distance Successfully

Ed explained how the umbrella(authority of God) works in marriage. The husband is supposed to carry the umbrella for his wife/family. He is the “Umbrella Fella.” The wife is supposed to let him do this and walk close to him under the protection, protection and purpose that the umbrella brings. She is a “Parasol Princess.” However some men are intimidated by the umbrella(the responsibility of hearing from God for the family) and for whatever reason they lay down that umbrella. Women don’t have a problem holding the umbrella and if their husband has laid it down the wife will pick it up. Some husbands hold the umbrella but the wife won’t walk under it.

Conference Notes

It is November. I haven’t blogged in a while. The Joyce Meyer Love Life Women’s Conference was back in September and I usually share my notes from all the sessions on here.

Here is my first installment:

Joyce Meyer spoke on Thursday evening at the opening session on 9/25/14.

{I must have missed the title because I don’t have that written down}

-Dreams come to pass with pain and adversity.

Jesus is the author and the finisher of our faith.

Proverbs 24:10 – If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.


-Make your mind up to never give up. Not just because you will get what you want but because you will glorify God.

Hebrews 11 – The Hall of Fame of Faith

There were those who accomplished great things through faith and there were those who didn’t receive anything on earth but just glorified God.

Letter to Fear – breaking up {Joyce wrote a letter to Fear in which she listed all of the effects it had on her life and the freedom she would have without it. There was a copy of the letter in all of our bags for us to sign and kick fear out of our lives.}

Joshua 1:2-5, “Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them – the Israelites. I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river the Euphrates – all the Hittite country – to the Great Sea on the west. No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.

Acceptable attitude for Christian = “I will not fear”

  • You have to get up on the inside before you can get up on the outside.

v. 3 God tells Joshua that He has already given him the land so go take it!

– If you are not determined than you will never have what God wants you to have.

Joshua 1:5 – you will be successful because God has sent you/told you to do it.

Many people fail because they don’t have the courage to be who they are.

Whatever God has put in your heart, go for it! >>>>>Don’t let fear stop you

It is never enough if you listen to the devil.

Believe first, act on faith, your feelings will catch up.

Ephesians 3:20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.

God does things through us

{Joyce had a rack with different clothing items on the stage, she pulled things off and held them up as she talked about “finding the right fit” with the will of God in your life}

Being free from self protection

-Having the courage to find the will of God for my life

-> Some things are for a season

-Don’t be afraid to try things

-You can’t do something just because someone else does it –this isn’t One Size Fits All

– When you’re doing what’s right for you, you’ll know it and everyone else will know it.

->People who try things make mistakes.

-Take a risk and find out what God will do for me.

Acts 16:6-7 – Paul and Timothy were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia. After they came to Mysia, they were trying to go into Bithynia, and the Spirit of Jesus did not permit them:

They knew they were called to preach so they went out trying things.

Sometimes the only way to hear from God is to do something.

-Some are doing things way too small. Do the greater thing God is calling you to do.

-1 Chronicles 28:2-4 King David rose to his feet and said: “Listen to me, my brothers and my people. I had it in my heart to build a house as a place of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord, for the footstool of our God, and I made plans to build it. But God said to me, ‘You are not to build a house for my Name, because you are a warrior and have shed blood.’ Yet the Lord, the God of Israel, chose me from my whole family to be king over Israel forever. He chose Judah as leader, and from the house of Judah he chose my family, and from my father’s sons he was pleased to make me king over all Israel. Of all my sons — and the Lord has given me many – he has chosen my son Solomon to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel.

King David was not allowed to build the temple but he was allowed to be king.

{Even if the answer to one thing is no it doesn’t mean you can’t do anything}

-Don’t be afraid to change as the seasons in life change.

}Dreams come to pass through much business and painful effort

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Friday Update: 5/30/14

Friday was a day of showers. The showers were intermittent and spotty. It had rained downtown earlier in the day as evidenced by the huge puddle. Rain or not, Search & Rescue has a reputation for always being downtown on Friday night. We got set up quickly and people got food, drinks and cookies.










As I sang the second praise and worship song, a few raindrops started to splash on my head and the table next to me. We stopped the music for a while but the shower quickly passed and as soon as it did, I started singing again.

The people were spread out as they listened to Jerred preach.

He focused on some things that stop our prayers from being answered like unforgiveness.

During his message Jerred asked me to read some Bible passages for him.

As Jerred gave the altar call, there were still people coming up the food truck to get food. Jerred passed out Bibles to anyone who wanted one at the end. The back of the truck was opened for people to get clothing, socks, and toiletries. While that was happening, Jerred prayed for a few people.

A lady came up to me and told me that Jerred’s message was just what she needed to hear. She had been praying to find out what was going wrong in her life and as she sat there listening she received the answer. I prayed with her and she left encouraged.

As the sun went down, people began to wander off to the places that they stay. We packed up our tables and equipment and found that the food containers were empty. That made it a short night but a powerful one.

Friday Update: 5/23/14

Friday night was a bustle of activity as always. A church group came downtown to help at the feeding. They brought and set up a stage truck and their youth sang praise and worship from it. It took a little time to get everything set up.

People got drinks and visited with us as they waited for us to start serving food.

It wasn’t long before Jerred prayed to bless the food. Everyone headed down to the food truck to get a bowl of Chicken Stew.

There is still a line at the window of the Food Truck and some of these people are getting their second or third bowl.

The man at the window asked for more crackers.

Meanwhile, these youth are singing songs of praise and worship. When they finished, Jerred started to preach.

Jerred read from the Bible and showed the people how it is of utmost importance to believe and then speak.

As his message drew to a close, Jerred had everyone repeat a prayer after him. After that he sent people from our team around to pray with people.

While that was happening, the back of the food truck was opened up for people to get clothing, shoes and toiletries. The line at the back of the truck seemed endless but no one walked away empty-handed.

People continued to mingle and one on one ministry was taking place. Then as the sun was setting and the sky was growing dimmer, an announcement was made that the church group had brought groceries for people to take away with them. Everyone that wanted it took away a bag of groceries.

We packed up our things and walked around the area to pick up trash before we headed down the street to the C-store.

We fed five or six people at the C-store before we left. Our next stop was the greyhound bus station. There were a handful of people in the lobby and a few of them came out to get some food. One young woman came out and Kristy and I spoke with her. She was leaving town after losing several friends to violent deaths. Kristy and I prayed with her and encouraged her. As Kristy and I were walking back to the truck a man walked up for a bowl of food. We asked him if he would like us to pray with him. He agreed to let us pray with him for strength to resist alcohol.

We drove by the city bus station where we fed two people and quickly moved on. Next we went under a bridge where one man was staying. He asked for two bowls of food which we happily provided. Mary and Steve prayed with him.

On our way to the next destination, we had an impromptu stop at the jail. There were two young men outside the jail waiting for their rides. They were both hungry and very thankful for a bowl of food and their freedom. We continued to the Day Center for the Homeless; several people came out and received food, drink, and prayer.

The next place we went was to a bar on the outskirts of downtown. The bar was closed because the bartender was in need of medical attention for a spider bite. We gave one bowl of food to the man who told us about the bartender and then got on our way.

We went by the city bus station again and this time there were a bunch of people. We got to serve some food, give away some clothes, and pray with some people there.

The last stop of the night was at a bar in downtown. About half a dozen people came out from the bar to get food and then people from the apartments above the bar started coming down to get food. It didn’t take much time to empty our food container. We drove home with completely empty food and drink containers and only a little ice left. All in all: a great night!
