Conference Notes from Session 4

At the Saturday morning session, Lisa Bevere spoke.

**A gathering of the mighty

  1. You are a target
  2. You might be a HERO

*Christian means anointed one – marked by God and noted by the enemy

God’s word is a sword – a weapon for us to use

Luke 22:36 He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.

Jesus tells them to sell their cloak and buy a sword

-Don’t underestimate the power of knowing what the enemy sees when he looks at you

James 1:22-25 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it – he will be blessed in what he does.

The mirror we look to is the WORD!

{Look at = superficial i.e. we look at the magazines by the checkout stand} {Look into = in depth i.e. we look into the Word of God}

Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

What does it mean to carry your cross???

>All that the cross provided for you is what we are supposed to carry out into the world<

-The cross is a weapon (it isn’t a coincidence that it even looks like a sword)

James 1:2-8 (Message) Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way. If you don’t know what you’re doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You’ll get his help, and won’t be condescended to when you ask for it. Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought. People who “worry their prayers” are like wind-whipped waves. Don’t think you’re going to get anything from the Master that way, adrift at sea, keeping all your options open.

Under pressure you faith life is forced out into the open

Pressure – locates what you have trusted in

-strength training season so you can hold your weapon

-We need to pray scary prayers instead of scared prayers.

-Ask boldly.

**Your children will either inherit God’s promises or your fears**

(Lisa would line up her four boys at night and speak this over them: “You are for signs and wonders and miracles not death and destruction”)

-The sword of the Spirit is to set people free.

James 4:7-8 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will fell from you. Come near to God and He will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Micah 4:11-13 But now many nations are gathered against you. They say, “Let her be defiled, let our eyes gloat over Zion!” But they do not know the thoughts of the Lord; they do not understand his plan, he who gathers them like sheaves to the threshing floor. “Rise and thresh, O Daughter of Zion, for I will give you horns of iron; I will give you hoofs of bronze and you will break to pieces many nations.” You will devote their ill-gotten gains to the Lord, their wealth to the Lord of all the earth.

Remaking into a people INVINCIBLE

Zecheriah 9:12-13 Return to your fortress, O prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you. I will bend Judah as I bend my bow and fill it with Ephraim. I will rouse your sons, O Zion, against your sons, O Greece, and make you like a warrior’s sword.

People are my swords – you are a weapon walking this earth.
