Wow, the first Friday in November has already come and gone! I couldn’t help but think about the fact that it is already November while we were driving towards downtown, Friday night. There were numerous people waiting for us as we parked the Food truck.
As always, we spent some time setting everything up and then Jerred prayed over the food and the line at the truck started to move as people received a bowl of Ham and Beans and then went to get a glass of lemonade and some cookies.
The dark of night closed in quickly as Jerred preached, driving home his message with illustrations. What followed the message was an effective time of one-on-one ministry. As people were having their spiritual needs met, the back of the Food Truck was open and people were lined up to get their physical needs met. We passed out dozens of blankets to keep people warm as well as, coats, gloves, hats, socks, shoes, pants, hygiene supplies, and long sleeve shirts.
There was a chill in the air as we packed up our tables and equipment and drove to the C-store. We found about six more hungry people at the C-store and we fed them before we went to a bridge where people were camped out. We gave away bowl after bowl of food to hungry people. Additionally, we passed out socks, gloves, hats and jackets.
We returned to the C-store with only a couple of bowls of food left. Before the team all went our separate ways, the bowls of food had been served to people in need.
