Conference Notes: Being Led by the Holy Spirit

I was able to go to the Joyce Meyer Love Life Women’s Conference again this year! I am going to share my notes from the sessions here on the blog. {For my friend Darla J and anyone else who may want to take a peek}

The first session was Thursday evening September 12, 2013 {My friend Amber’s birthday!!} Joyce Meyer was the speaker on that first night.

2 Corinthians 3:8 “how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious?”

A minister’s job is to teach people how to live a life filled with the Holy Spirit and with His presence and His power.

It is our job to >obtain >be filled with >be led by

He leads us out of bondage into victory

The Holy Spirit will lead us in >big decisions and >little everyday decisions

1 Thessalonians 5:22-24 “Abstain from every form of evil. Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.”

We are a three part being: spirit, soul, and body. Verse 23 brings this out.

Our spirit is what is “born again” when we make Jesus Christ the Lord of our lives.

1John3:9 AMP describes us as having received “the divine sperm” of Almighty God.

Our soul is our mind, our will and our emotion…what we think, what we want, and what we feel.

Our body will only do what we train it to do.

Since we are this three part being this is why sometimes we want to do opposite things at the same time. Eg. I want to go to church but I want to stay home and relax. I want to read my Bible but I want to watch TV.

Paul describes this in Roman 7:15 “For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do”

But don’t despair! Philippians 1:6 says,”that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion” the AMP version says, “developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.”

So that is His part but what is our part?

***Our part is to learn how to let the Holy Spirit lead us.

The Holy Spirit is the agent of sanctification.

Sanctification- separation unto God, lifestyle for those who are so separated.

Holiness is a reward

Are you separated unto God???? Think about your lifestyle-thinking, acting-does it include giving and kindness?

You must really want holiness to have it.

Holiness results from obedience. You don’t get it from association or catch it or have it rub off.

What we have in our spirit is our position.

My part is to do what God leads me to do and to trust Him to do what I cannot.

Be ready to let go of my plan in exchange for God’s plan.

Mama Joyce tells the story here of how the Holy Spirit was leading her to eat little snacks every few hours. She didn’t want to do that because she liked having one large meal every day. So she did what she wanted. Eventually she started having dizzy spells with her heart feeling like it was racing. She went to the doctor and the doctor told her: “You need to eat little snacks every few hours.” Mama Joyce made the point to us that she knew this all along because of the Holy Spirit and He told her way before a problem ever developed!

She then urged us to make a commitment to leave that night and be led by the Spirit!

Anything that God leads you to do, He will give you the grace to do!

We have to yield- to give in, give up, let go, back down, climb down, raise the white flag, surrender

Mama Joyce ended the message by waving a white flag.
