How much are you asking for?

Friday night the man in this picture came up to the window and got a bowl of food. Later he came back for another bowl. In the picture, he is receiving his fifth bowl of food. There were people who only got one bowl of food and there may have been those who didn’t get a bowl of food at all. Just so you know most people do come back for seconds. The point I am trying to make is that just like the people downtown receive as much as they ask for, we can receive from God as much as we ask for. James tells us that we don’t receive because we don’t ask. He goes on to say that God is considering our reasons for asking as well as the actual request. {James 4:2b-3 You don’t get what you want because you don’t ask God. Or when you ask, you don’t receive anything, because the reason you ask is wrong. You only want to use it for your own pleasure.}

God doesn’t want us to ever think that we don’t need anything! Sure, all of your needs might be met, but what about the people around you? Do your loved ones need to come to the saving knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ? Ask God for that! Do you see people on the street that sleep outside? Ask God for things to change in their lives. Do you have a coworker who is going through a rough patch? Ask God for help for them.

What are you asking God for?
